Karen Foley - Player, inducted in 1996

Combining line drive hitting hitting with power, Karen was a player you wanted at the plate with the game on the line.  She hit for a .589 batting average with 225 homeruns over her 12 year career with the Chicagoans and C.M.C.  Karen was selected as MVP of the Class "A" State Tournament in 1982 and 1984 when the Chicagoans won the State Championship.

She was the first female to hit a homerun over the fence at Forest Hills Diamonds in 1982 on the year old 250' fence.  Everyone in the stands gave her a standing ovation.

Karen was also selected to All-Tournament teams in 1983, 1984 and 1985 NIT's and Golden Glove at the 1983 State Tournament.  In 1984, Karen won the homerun hitting contest at the NIT in Detroit, MI.  Just 5 days prior to the World Tournament in Satellite Beach, FL. she broke her wrist playing volleyball.  She was fitted with a removable cast and before each game, her cast was removed and her wrist taped.  That didn't stop Karen however, she hit nine homeruns that tournament and treated her teammates to free lunches at Wendy's, the sponsor of the homeruns hitting contest.

Karen only played for one team, the Chicagoans who later changed their name to C.M.C.  Karen is currently retired from softball.
