|
Curt
Dusek began his USSSA career in the 16" program with Word Champions, C
& K Bobcars in 1981. In 12" he excelled with Lansing Glass from
1982-1989. Duece also played with People's Choice
TV, Sunset Technologies, Bunca Carwash, St. Louis Merchants, Shooters and Joe
Blacks.
A 700 plus lead off hitter, Curt revolutionized the 12" "AA" & "A" program by using the 16" outfield style of the 3-man outfield. When he was injured, he moved in to play short and when injuries healed, moved back to centerfield. Curt was one of two players to be on world championship teams for both 12" & 16" teams. Outfield speed and sure hands won him numerous Best Defensive Players awards six times, including 12" NITs and the 16" World Tournament in 1987. In 1984, Deuce won the national batting title with a .817 batting average at the Class A World Tournament with Lansing Glass. Curt also won All-Tournament team awards nine times in NITs in Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and Missouri. Most Valuable Player awards were not uncommon for this speedster either. He was selected MVP at the Detroit NIT, Sho Me Classic in Missouri, Steele's Classic, Ft. Wayne Invite, and the Gateway Classic, to name a few. Deuce played in Class "AA" & "A" competition form 1981 until 1993. With Lansing Glass in 1987, his team qualified for the Men's Major World Series. In 1990, Curt joined a "AA" team from Detroit, Sunset Technologies, and they claimed the "AA" World Championship that same year.
Curt
was elected All-World in 12" softball in 1981, 1984, 1986, 1988 (at
shortstop, when he was hurt) and in 1990. He was also a world champion in
16" play four times. |
